From the “Makarounes of the Aegean” to the contemporary Ceramic Jewellery.
The potter Angeliki Papadopoulou believes in the physical relationship/connection with clay, and its strong positive effect on the human body, transforms in an innovative way the materials of the earth, into unique works of art characterized by elegant aesthetics, technical perfection and unique finesse.
The “Makarounes of the Aegean” journey began with a proposal from the Art Space “Ochra Ble (ochre blue)” of Lemnos, which involved the creation of ceramic jewellery related to the island’s traditions. Lemnos was known as the great granary of the Aegean. The food made for the body and its traditional ways of preparation became an inspiration for the spirit. Thus Aggeliki’s abstract ceramic jewellery was born with high fire clay and Earth pigments.
