Kristiana Iliopolos
Her work is a visual diary of her thoughts on our existence as humankind and her personal stories and experiences. She is working with engraving, painting, packaging, collage, paper art, sculpture and installations, with an experimental disposition of using classic and new techniques. Stimulus visualization is directly related to the exploration of the expressive potential of materials. With separate sources and atmospheres, each section of works is a stage in the better understanding of herself as a person and as an artist towards the World.
Cristiana Iliopolos was born in 1969 in Bucharest, Romania. In 1997 she obtained the Painting diploma of the School of Visual & Applied Arts, the Faculty of Fine Arts, of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and in 2004, at the same School, the Printmaking diploma. Member of the Greek Visual Artists Association, of the Alumni Association of the Aristotle University, of the Visual Artists Association of Northern Greece, of the Visual Alumni Association of Fine Arts School of Thessaloniki and of the Greek Printmakers Association. From 1994 until today she had 10 solo shows and participated with printmaking, painting, mixed media and paper art works in more than 170 group exhibitions, Biennials and International Art Symposiums in Greece and around the world.
In 2004 she won the Commendation at the Third Biennale of Students of Greek Academies of Art, Crete, Greece and in 2008 the 1st Prize at the 2nd International Biennial of Small Graphics of the Inter-Art Foundation, Aiud, Romania. Her works are to be found at state and private collections in Greece and broad.
Currently she is teaching at the School of Visual&Applied Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) at the Printmaking Department.
